Coinmarketcap lets you edit watchlists before choosing permanent account deletion

Updated

Coinmarketcap watchlist changes let you adjust the cryptoassets you track without deleting your account. You can add or remove entries, organize separate lists and change their visibility. Account deletion has a different consequence: recovery ends when deletion completes. A submitted request starts a processing period during which you can contact support to cancel. Choose the action that matches your purpose, then distinguish a saved edit from a pending deletion request.

The short version: Removing a watched asset changes your tracking list, while completed account deletion permanently ends access to that account.

Adding and removing tracked assets

A watchlist stores your selection of assets to monitor. Before editing website watchlists, sign in to the account whose lists you want to change. Removing an entry changes that selection and leaves the account available for other uses.

Adding an asset

The watchlist page provides an add-coins control with an asset search. Asset pages also have a star control for watching a cryptocurrency. Additions through the general coin listings go to the Main watchlist, so the destination matters when you maintain several lists. An asset missing from another list does not necessarily mean that the addition failed.

Removing an entry

An asset’s menu includes a Remove from Watchlist option. This removes the tracking entry. Adding the asset again is a separate edit available through the watchlist controls. Keep removal of one asset separate from deletion of an entire list, especially when the list contains other entries you want to retain.

List visibility and saved copies

A private watchlist suits personal monitoring; a public watchlist lets other people view and follow the selection. Changing visibility addresses sharing without requiring account deletion. Public sharing exposes the assets on the list, so consider whether the selection itself reveals information you prefer to keep private.

List controls also support copying and deleting watchlists. A copy can preserve a selection while you reorganize another list, but an account-stored copy remains dependent on access to that account. Treat a separate written record as a record of your selection, rather than assuming it provides an automatic restoration feature.

Checking an entry that remains after removal

If an asset still appears after a removal attempt, first establish which account and watchlist you are viewing. Account synchronization requires the relevant signed-in account; a session signed in to another account cannot confirm the saved state of the intended account’s list. Cross-device synchronization applies to account-associated watchlists.

  • If the signed-in account differs from the intended account, stop editing until you have the correct account open.
  • If several watchlists exist, select the list where you attempted the removal. The asset may remain in another list.
  • If the intended list is still loading, wait for it to finish before interpreting the visible entries.
  • Reopen or refresh that list without making another edit. If the asset is absent, the displayed selection matches the intended removal.
  • If the asset remains or views disagree, pause further changes and describe the account, list and attempted action to support.

Deleting the account would remove access needed to investigate the list. A display inconsistency calls for checking the saved selection before considering a broader action.

Account deletion on the website and mobile app

Account deletion requires a signed-in session and a verification step. Opening settings alone does not submit a deletion request. Save any list or portfolio records you need before submitting either deletion request.

Website request

On the website, open the avatar menu, choose Settings and enter Profile Settings. The Request Account Deletion control appears at the bottom. Follow its verification step to submit the request. Website account deletion has an approximate processing time of 21 days.

Mobile app request

In the mobile app, open the avatar menu, select Settings and choose Delete account. Complete the verification step for that request. Mobile-app deletion has an approximate processing time of 28 days, so the website estimate does not apply to this route. Both routes concern the account, rather than an individual watchlist.

Can I cancel a pending account deletion?

You can request cancellation through customer support during the deletion processing period. Use the support request form and select the Feedback, Questions, Complaints category.

The distinction is between a request still processing and deletion already completed. A completely deleted account cannot be recovered.

A cancellation message records your request to stop deletion. Seek confirmation of its handling rather than assuming that sending the message restored the account’s previous status.

The processing estimates are approximate. Contact support promptly after changing your mind instead of treating the final estimated day as a guaranteed deadline.

Records to keep before leaving

A separate record of asset names, list names and useful settings can help you reconstruct your tracking choices later. Save it before requesting deletion. Keep any deletion-request acknowledgement and subsequent support correspondence as well; those records distinguish what you requested from what support confirmed.

Records to keep before leaving: Editing entries is the narrower choice when your tracking interests change.; Permanent deletion fits the separate decision to close the account and give up its recoverability.

A screenshot preserves what appeared on screen when you captured it. It does not restore account access or establish that a later deletion or cancellation completed. Portfolio records also serve a different purpose from watchlists: they record holdings information rather than just assets of interest. Preserve any records you need separately.

Everyday questions about Coinmarketcap

Does removing a cryptocurrency from a watchlist sell my holdings?

Removing a watched cryptocurrency changes your monitoring selection, not your holdings. A watchlist bookmarks assets of interest and does not establish whether you own them. Portfolio tracking records holdings information separately, so a watchlist edit is not a sale instruction.

Can I choose a different Main watchlist?

You can change which watchlist serves as Main through the list management controls. The Main designation determines the default list and the destination for additions made through the general listing stars. Changing that designation differs from deleting the previous list.

What happens if an older watchlist migration asks me to keep local or account data?

Keeping only one version discards the other version in that migration flow. The alternative merge option combines the local and account selections. This applies when the older-data migration prompt appears; discarded data cannot be restored after that choice.

How can I reduce push notifications without deleting my account?

The website lets you change notification preferences from your account settings. After signing in, open the avatar menu, select Settings and enter Notifications. Toggle the relevant options there. Adjusting those preferences addresses alerts without starting account deletion.

Where can I stop newsletter emails while keeping my watchlists?

Newsletter emails contain Update Email Preferences and Unsubscribe controls at the bottom. These controls manage marketing and promotional email preferences without requiring an account-deletion request. They are separate from the website’s push-notification settings.
